I’ve been really sick in the last month, due to poor care for myself and working too hard. Very burnout and emotionally it’s been taking ahuge toll on myself.

I suppose I should take this time as a blessing to take a step back and re-evaluate my life and the direction that I’m taking but also of the vision that I’ve created for myself.

At the same time, it’s a chance to look at what is around me and who is around me. I feel really out of it and really alone in this space. It’s not that I really want to be, but it’s a point in my life that’s been really difficult.

I want to use this as an example for everyone me to understand that you need to take time out for yourself and to do fun things. I spent too much time doing things that weren’t fun and tried to do many things for other people instead of myself.

Hopefully whatever it is I’m going through, will be over soon.

So much excitement is in the air!!

Kollaborations Houston is like next week in the US! And fantastic XWANSONGS will be doing her thang next week! You Go Girl!! Rock that stage up!!

I was actually going to make her a dress. I even made the pattern for it too! But there was so many adjustments I had to make and unfortunately, there wasn’t enough time.

It was going to be a simple black hourglass slip to accentuate Xwansong’s luscious curves. Then I wanted to do some detailed thing on the tie that was going to go around the neck, just to add a little glitz and glamour, and create this focal point.


I wanted XWANSONGS to SHINE!!


I will make a pledge and promise on the interweb, so she can hold it against me in the future - I will make you something cool XWAN!! I will!! I promise!!!

Another thing that has been happening has been my interest in SUGAR!

Yeah, SUGAR!


I’ve made these Sugared Taro sweets. Sugared Taro sweets is a Tiu Chew sweet (my 1/4 background which makes up the chinese in me). No, no one in my family taught me how to make this, I relied on the one person that I rely on all the time with my cooking.

No seriously, I google all my recipes!! There’s just too many cool recipes out there!! I learn how to cook via cooking shows on TV, going out to eat and GOOGLE.



The other sugar thing that I’ve been really into lately is, SUGAR FLOWERS!


Oh gosh, I spent like a LOT of money invested into this art! I love it!! I remember the first ROSE and ORCHID I made, and it was SHIT! lol Looked NOTHING like rose or an orchid!!



It was my bff’s engagement the other weekend, so we got together and made chocolate mousse together!

Oh the chocolate mousse was mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm



And for the decoration, I decided to give my sugar flower making a challenge and made some ROSES and ORCHIDS and they were NICE.. but not AWESOME like how it is in my head!



My inspiration - YOUTUBE! I love YouTube!! I have learnt how to make sugar flowers and do buttercream flowers from it. hehehehehehehehehehheheeee



So when I have some more time, I will get into more SUGAR FLOWERS!!

GUITARING!!


As busy as I get myself into, I’m still guitaring!! I’ve recently learnt to play with tapping or hammering as they call it, I think…. Some of the songs that I play now have PERCUSSION sounds in it!! Yay!! And it sounds sooooo HOT!!


I’ve yet to do a recording, but I want to try it with a mic this time! I wanna actually sound pro! LOL

LIFE!!!


Oh dude. I’ve been busy as ANYTHING lately!! Recently for work, (yea, I know, I work now! How weird is that?!?) I went and did a qualification, something aside from all the other studying that I already do….. to become a qualified Trainer and Assessor.


It was INTENSE! One month of 12 INTENSIVE CLASSES!! It was tiring, but I LOVED every moment of it!!


It was the first time in a LONG time that I felt, YUP, THIS IS ME!


I even did my first REAL training class and I just had a ball!! It brought back so many memories of what it was like when I was teaching classes of older kids! Loved it!



I know you’re thinking… what about all the FASHION STUFF??

And it will definitely and HOPEFULLY lead us into the next project! Don’t worry y’all, cool and exciting projects will come, I just need to kind of finish up my career stuff, so that I can actually have a good space to do some awesome stuff!!

Reflection


I’ve come to really appreciate what I have at the moment. Of course at moments, I kind of lose track and get pushed off my rails a little bit, but I sincerely believe that it all serves a purpose and only adds more flavour to the outcome.


I’m thankful that I’m in a position where I can work, have fun, learn, grow, be challenged and just feel so supported by the people that I work with! I love work! And it’s giving me a better ground to live life and continue to do things that I love doing!


I’ve also come to understand a lot of things within me. My strengths, my weaknesses, what I’m really good at and what I really like doing…. but also I found a very important part of me which was this lock that I have implaced on myself, that I did not really know was there and I did not know how to remove.


I’m so thankful that the universe has helped me find the key. Thank you!


With this key, I know now that there is absolutely no limit to what I can achieve and what I want to achieve!


The sky’s the limit!

2. Spend 8 hours in the car and talk about everything!!

3. Stop after 4 hours at Albury/Wodong, park in front of the “Window of Opportunity“.

4. Have dinner at the 50’s style cafe, that I have forgotten the name of. Get the steak sanga, because the normal hot dog is boring as shit.

5. Get back on the way to Canberra for another 400 km.

6. Go to Belconnen to meet up with the Canberrians at Subway (because they ain’t nuthin’ open at 11pm ACT).

7. Go home and YouTube.




Saturday

1. Wake up super early, 6.30AM, after sleeping at 1.40AM. Woo!

2. Pimp yourself up!

3. Go to Queanbeyan to pick up your mate from the airport.

4. Go to Campbell to see some Kangabangas (Kangaroos) and the outside of where your Berrian friend work.

4.5 (cos I only just remembered after I finished) Drive up to Mount Ainsle to enjoy the scenic views of Canberra from above.

5. Drive around to Lyneham to have breakfast at Tilley’s. Order the big breakfast with the lot (beautifully cooked eggs, hollandaise sauce, tomatoes, crispy bacon, mushroom, chipalata, toast) with an orange juice and extra side order of hash browns.

6. Try to drive up the Northbourne Ave. Check out some Gai-lahs (Galahs).

7. Drive down to Queanbeyan again, past the Brand Depot near the airport, down majura drive (i think).

8. Past a black rock, that’s actually a cow (or heffa) and you will see a big sign, “Mout Majura Winery“. Get your ass in there, try all the awesome wines, and get the platter with the kangaroo proscuitto! mmmmmm

9. Buy the sticky, or the white. Yummmmmm

10. Drive back around the Queanbeyan area, drive towards the east side, to Fyshwick.

11. Go to a store called “Adam and Eve“. Play with some whips, p*nises, v*gs…

12. Go to another store to see some por-parody dvds.

13. Drive back down to Civic Centre and park your car on the south side of Lake Burley Griffin, opposite the Parliament House, Braddon.

14. Take some lovely photos.

15. Take lots of lovely photos. Climb trees. Do Cartwheels!

16. Go to Belconnen town centre to a place called “Rubees” and get some frozen custard!!!!! It is the best!

17. Sit at Lake Ginninderra and eat your Rubees custard! mmmmm… but I strongly suggest you go before 5, otherwise you will freeze……. and turn purple.

18. Go back to Macquarie to change (if you want to change).

19. Cruise down to Civic, go around the state circuit around the Parliament House and see all the National Embassy’s of the world!

20. Fall asleep in the car because you had 4 hours sleep that day.

21. Wake up and find your friends have driven to Fyshwick (again? ) to a brewery called “Zierholz Premium Brewery”.

22. Order the platter ($15 pp cheap as chips).

23. Order the Beer Tasting Pallette. $10 with 7 beer tasters and a half pint of your favourite beer.

24. Eat the sausages! mmm Kransky sausage!! mmmm!! the seeded mustard and salad!! the crispy PORK BELLY!! mmmmm!!! the soft Pretzel!! MMM!!! and the other stuff (chicken sausage, spam looking sausage and sauerkraut)

25. Socialise with some people.

26. Say goodbye to your newly made friends, friends who were going back to those naughty shops, and head back to Civic Centre.

27. Park you car and walk your ass to Canberra Casino.

28. Walk around Canberra Casino and then leave cos it’s no where as cool as CROWN Casino in Melbourne.

29. Walk past the clubbing district in Civic towards Pancake Parlour.

30. Mingle with some funny people over pancakes, maple syrup, teas and dirty games like, “Who can yell out Penis the loudest”.

31. Go home and sleep.



Sunday

1. Wake up relatively early, but not too early.

2. Drive to Deakin to a place called “XY Dim Sum Dumpling House“, but find it won’t open until 11AM, so go back to your car.

3. Drive past Rudd’s place and go towards Black Mountain.

4. Pay $7.50 a person and go up the Telstra Tower to see the Scenic Views of Canberra from 890 metres above sea level. Take some photos.

5. Go back to Deakin, to “XY Dumpling House” in the Croation Football club (don’t be afraid, just go up the stairs).

6. Sit down, and chow down as much steamed dumplings, fried stuff, and dessert as you can! But don’t waste food!! I do recommend you get the deep friend calamari, mango pudding, deep fried prawn balls…

7. Pay only $18.60 a person on weekends, and $16.60 a person on weekdays. Cheap as!

8. Drive back to Dickson to visit the asian community. Buy some water and chips and things for the drive back at Safeway.

9. Drive back to Civic Centre, park behind the National Library, and take more photos along Lake Burley, this time on the North Side.

10. Buy some coffees, chai lattees and sit along the river.

11. Go back to Macquarie, pack your stuff.

13. Drive down the Hume Hwy and go back to Melbourne.

When I heard of the location for this shoot, I was like…. Oh dang.. so Diana’s wasn’t the scariest! LOL I didn’t actually go to this shoot, but I absolutely love the calming and peacefulness that the photographers captured.

This was a really last minute shoot, done ONE week before the show. Though, the shots were amazing and so creative! Capturing the playfulness and dreaminess of floating away! Loved it! The video was also my favourite of them all!

What could’ve been a country side shoot, turned into something completely different. We couldn’t fight with weather - but we could only make do with what we have!!

The silent shoot was hilarious!! I called it the silent shoot because we had to do it without saying anything too loud!!

This was one ROCKIN’ night! I had a lot of fun on this shoot, especially with the MEZZE dress where we had to fully tease the models hair and make do with the make up that we had!

There was more than 100 hundred spectacular photos on show that night, from all the 9 photographers, all with different perspectives, different views of what the three garments could be portrayed.

What I enjoyed from the night was seeing a lot of supportive people come in and really enjoying themselves and celebrated what ART and PHOTOGRAPHY had to offer.

My cupcakes turned out ok too! ^^ Well, they weren’t the same as what I had in mind. Though, the venue was also something completely different from what I had in mind… even my laptop wasn’t working with the projector and the speakers. Oh my!

Though, like everything else in life, you need to compromise and you need to be resourceful.

To look at what you have, and use your imagination to create a smooth and sensual ambience - or the desired effect that you wish to achieve.

It definitely wasn’t something easy!

lol … lots of sleepless nights, planning, strategic thinking, emo moments - oh that was just me! lol

But i’m so glad that I’m BLESSED to have such supportive friends who endure my orders, my bitterness, my stressfulness, my sadness - and really celebrate my happiness and believe in my vision and my enthusiasm.

Thank you to the photographers - Shan, Colin, Khoa, Sampson, Susan, Hien, Diana, Nate, Mark, Alex, Jacqueline and Larry - for all your hard work, creative visions, passion and enthusiasm for this project and photography! This even would not happen if it weren’t for you guys!

So much background work. So many videos to edit, music to listen to and chose.

We even acquired one lucky last shoot for ONE - PERSPECTIVE!! So that gives us a total of NINE photographers!

NINE different perspectives!

I know I’ve been slacking off bad lately! Haven’t been writing in here at all!! So bad.

I’ve been ever so busy just organising this event and trying to fit everything else in life. Have I mentioned that I now do some kick boxing? lol

It was one of those things that I’ve wanted to try. I do like it. I do. Though, maybe by the end of this academic semester, I may not continue…

There’s still so much I want to do…

— Social dancing - Swing, Jive…

—Start working for real…

— Creative things: Go back to designing and making dresses and clothes and things.. music… photography…

— Go out and eat!

— Travel!

Hopefully it will all come true soon!!

Right now.. what I really want to do is finish off this final video, and sleep! Sleep to recover so I can rush my essay.

Oh gosh.. did I tell you!? My eyesight has gone soooo bad! lol.. too much time on the computer.. must not go one too much!

I’m feeling so blessed at the moment. Things have just been put to place and put into motion. The ONE-PERSPECTIVE launch is finally here!! And I am soooo OVER THE MOON that I finally found a place to hold such an awesome event!

FRIDAY the 30th of APRIL at 8.30pm - 10.30pm for those who would like to come along and check out the exhibition.

I truly feel like that what ever your mind believes, your mind will achieve. Truly believe that!

It was last year in Decemeber that I wanted this to happen, and it finally did. Lots of hard work, pushing people, talking to people, going around, driving around. lol

I also updated my portfolio as well. It’s not much.. Actually for a real portfolio, there’s not much at all, but I just pulled it together last minute because I wanted to get it done… You want to have a look? lol

It comprises of my work throughout my later days (not all uni stuff - only two pages from my honours stuff).

Anyway.. I know this is like writing only a few words and then leaving, but I’m so busy right at this moment.. Please forgive me!! I still love you all!!!

Just thinking about the even, I can feel it’s so close. I am like really wanting it to be done so that I can start the next project, which is going to start really soon. Which I need to get stuff organised for the next thing. LOL

Gosh, I was lost with the fairies for a sec there. lol.

and I was thinking..


“is that place even a restaurant?”

We crossed the road.. saw the menu.. and a little window.. lol..



So it was a restaurant, but was it opened?



I suggested we just stick our heads in the window and just ask. LOL


We walked in and was in AWE!

It was beautiful inside! Absolutely beautiful!

(sorry, poor quality photos with my phone… hence why I enlarged the photos so you can hopefully see more clearly!)



We looked at the menus… Had no idea.. so .. like I always do in a restaurant that I don’t know what’s happening… I always ask this one question…



“What’s good here?”



LOL



More often than not, you get a really detailed answer, if the waiter is a good one, but if you walk into the fine dining experiences that we find ourselves in, they will have that detail answer you’re looking for.



He introduced a whole lot of dishes to us, to which a lot of them sounded good and we did choose them in the end!



From speaking to the boss later… we found out that “Bedouin Kitchen” is actually an Egyptian/Arabic kind of restaurant (I know right.. exotic) that serves Egyptian Mezze.

Mezze is a word that in Chinese Cuisine is translated to mean “Food” or in Spanish Cuisine to mean “Tapas”. So it’s the experience of sharing small dishes type of eating.. but as an Asian.. I’m really used to that style of eating.

Anyways… to the food…



(Oh by the way the boss is Bernie! Way friendly guy!! )



The first dish we ordered was the Mahshi - which is a lamb mince, rolled in cabbage leaves and topped with a spicy tomato sauce. It had a really nice herbal and spicy aromatic flagrance.. though to me.. it smelt like that noodle dish at that urumqi restaurant I went to… a sort of B.O. smell.. lol.. I’m sorry Bernie!

We had warm olives.. which I thought it was gonna be something different.. But it literally was warmed olives. LOL.

Then we had the Field Mushrooms. OH MY GOODNESS!! This was DELICIOUS! Imagine a big portobello mushroom, topped with fetta, dill, butter and garlic.. Just delicious! It has this really nice aromatic nutty flavour to it. Perfect!

Absolutely perfect! mmmmmmmm …… Oh gosh.. i’m hungry just thinking about it.The mushrooms were kinna crispy on the outside, but so juicy and yummmm!! :P~






Then we had the chargrilled Quail.. It was nice.. I like quail.. it’s nice and tender.. though the taste of this particular dish tasted like charcoal chicken.. but then again.. it is chargrilled. LOL… the quail was served over a bed of baby spinach.. Yum!

The final dish we had was the filler which was the Vegetarian Claypot.. which I totally forgot the name! LOL It was really interesting.. Rice mixed with macaroni, topped with beans and the spicy tomato sauce on top.. at first it was quite bland.. but after mixing in the tomato sauce.. oh it was nice!! and really filling!!

Like really nice!

mmmmm…. Oh did I mention, I couldn’t go anywhere without a glass of Red. Cabernet Merlot from Barossa Valley, South Australia.. mmmmmmm yummmmmmm!!!

For dessert…. they ran out of dessert that night.. so as a treat, they gave us complimentary turkish delight, which was sooo good!! and also arabic coffee, but I had the arabic peppermint tea because I don’t drink coffee (I’m not good with caffeine).

The turkish delight was sooo much better than the one we had at that turkish place!! So nice and not too sweet at all!! ..

(ok.. I forgot to take a photo of the Turkish delight.. but that’s one little one left.. along with some olives left.. the teapot and a glass of water. hehehehe)





The peppermint tea?

(ohh crapp… so dark… but these were the tea cups, which reminded me of that glass they used to hold that potent Turkish drink …. ickyyy)






OMGoshh.. it was TOOO GOOODD!! It was sweet.. and I think I saw him crush the peppermint leaves with some honey and the actual tea.. and they were served in these really cute little pots..

The Arabic Coffee actually smelt really good… But unfortunately didn’t get to try it…

VERDICT: 4.5 out of 5

Actually a really good place! And really secretive! The food is really interesting and the service is TOP NOTCH! The service simply was just too great! The best service I’ve ever come across! The boss actually was so nice to us! The food was good and it came out really promtly. The drinks bar was just in front of us, so it was good to see the waiter preparing our drinks in style..
